Is TierUp really free?
Yes. TierUp is free forever, with no revenue cap and no percentage of your sales. Most volume-discount apps charge a monthly fee that scales with the revenue they help you make, or push you off a “free” plan once you cross a sales threshold. TierUp doesn’t — the core quantity-break pricing is free on every Shopify plan.
What is quantity-break (volume) pricing?
Quantity-break pricing — also called volume, tiered, or bulk pricing — lowers the per-unit price as a shopper buys more. For example: 1 unit for $50, 3 units for $45 each, 6 units for $40 each. It’s one of the most reliable ways to raise average order value (AOV) because it gives shoppers a concrete reason to add one more unit.
How do I add volume discounts to my Shopify store?
Install TierUp from the Shopify App Store, open the app, and create a rule: pick a product and enter your tiers (minimum quantity → per-unit price). Save, then add the tier-table block to your product page with the one-click theme link. The discount applies automatically at checkout — no discount code to enter and no theme code to write.
Does TierUp work with Shop Pay, Google Analytics, and Meta Pixel?
Yes. TierUp uses Shopify’s native discount Functions at checkout instead of draft orders, so Shop Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal, Google Analytics 4, and Meta Pixel all keep working normally. Apps that rewrite the cart with draft orders often break accelerated checkout and analytics attribution; TierUp is built specifically to avoid that.
Will TierUp slow down my store?
No. The tier table is rendered by your theme from data already stored on the product, so there’s no slow third-party call and no content jumping around as the page loads. The savings nudge script listens only for cart changes, so it doesn’t fight your theme’s variant picker.
Do I need a developer to set it up?
No. Everything is done from the Shopify admin — create a rule, then add the tier-table block through Shopify’s theme editor with a one-click link. There’s no code to write and no theme file to edit.
Can shoppers mix product variants to reach a tier?
Yes, if you turn it on. Each rule has a “Combine quantities across all variants” option. With it on, a shopper who adds 2 Small and 3 Large of the same product is counted as 5 units toward the tier. With it off (the default), each variant line is counted on its own so existing pricing doesn’t change without an explicit opt-in.
How is TierUp different from bundle apps?
TierUp only adjusts the price of your existing line items — it does not create synthetic “bundle” SKUs. Your 3PL, warehouse, and inventory sync keep working exactly as before. It does one thing, quantity-break pricing, rather than trying to be a bundles / BOGO / build-a-box suite.
Which Shopify plans does TierUp support?
TierUp works on Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Plus. Note that on non-Plus plans Shopify allows only one product discount per line item — a platform rule, not a TierUp limit — so two product-level discounts can’t stack on the same item. TierUp surfaces this in the UI rather than hiding it.
Does TierUp support multiple currencies?
TierUp follows your store’s base currency for all pricing and copy — it’s never hard-coded to USD. Full multi-currency (Shopify Markets presentment) isn’t supported yet. Standard 0- and 2-decimal currencies like USD, EUR, and JPY work; unusual 3-decimal currencies such as KWD are refused with a clear message rather than mis-priced.
Can I control whether the discount stacks with other discounts?
Yes. Each rule has explicit stacking controls: you choose whether the quantity-break discount can combine with order-level and shipping discounts, with plain-English guidance on Shopify’s rules. Nothing stacks implicitly.
What happens if I change a product’s price later?
TierUp keeps the discount in sync. When you update a product, TierUp automatically recompiles the tier rule behind the scenes so checkout always uses your current pricing.
